I supposedly got a refill of propane on December 22, 2017 of 191 gallons of propane only to go home today to a empty tank. Today is January 8, 2018.

The only thing I use profane for is to heat the house. Everything else in my house is electric, including the furnace and by that I mean there is no pilot light to light my furnace. My furnace, which is new, less than a year old, is set at 70 and is on auto so that it doesn't continuously run 24/7. From the time they came out to fill the tanks to now, my furnace ran for about 10 of those days.

When I called them about it and also told them that I suspected a leak because when I went to check the tanks I could smell propane, they sent someone out to check who report back to them that he couldn't find a leak, even though I could smell it. Their reasoning for that was when the tanks are empty, they give off an odor to let you know they are empty. And if you've never smelled propane before, it smells like something dead. I called them back to see what they were gonna do about it and they told me that I had to pay for more propane.

It is now below freezing where I live and all the lady from Suburban would say was, "I understand" and was trying to say that "if my house want properly insulated it would use more propane". I told her that if my furnace was turned up as high as it would go, there was no way I could use 191 gallons of propane in less than 12 days. Even the guy who came out and checked for leaks said the average usage for a house of my size is about 7 gallons a day. At 7 gallons a day doesn't average out to 12 days with 191 gallons of propane.

Before writing this I saw where they have had to date, 372 complaints about Suburban Propane. The first one I read had a complaint similar to mine. I don't believe my tank was filled like they said it was. I specifically ask them to call me when they were on their way to fill the tanks and they didn't.

I didn't even know they had even came until I heard the driver fumbling with my door handle to leave the invoice on it instead of ringing my doorbell to let me know he was out there and I was sitting in my living room and my tanks sit under my living room window. When I explain this same situation to the lady in the main office I believe in New York, she even said that it sounded like there was a leak. That, that was unusual for that much propane to be used in such a short amount of time.

I don't know what can be done about this but I do know without heat, my pipes are gonna freeze in my house as well as me and I can't afford either. They were paid over $700 2 wks ago and I'm on a fixed income and can't afford to repay that for more propane.

Reason of review: Bad quality.
