Verified Reviewer |New Service- Multiple Tank Installations & Propane Fills
Suburban Propane, Columbus MS has done an excellent job for us. Local personnel listened to our needs, helped plan the proper services for both residential and farm business use---including tank sizing and a pricing contract that should work well.
The first installation has been completed and others are to follow as appropriate over the next year. The Suburban personnel with whom we have worked are excellent & accommodating people. Our local contact is Mr. David Wiggins.
He and his crew are great people along with the tank truck driver who quickly delivered the initial fill.
They have shown detailed interest in our needs and obviously want to establish a good working relationship as do we. This is the way good business is supposed to work!
User's recommendation: Suburban Propane, Columbus MS wants to serve its customers!

Verified Reviewer |Price gouging
Suburban refilled my home tanks and charged me $6.44 a gallon. This is 85% more than the state average, well beyond the 'market fluctuation' in the contract.
I didn't agree to it in advance, and the delivery came when I was not at home to dispute it or refuse delivery.
I contacted them to empty the tanks and take them away. No answer yet.
- Courteous local staff and drivers
- Price-gouging at corporate level
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Stay away from this price-gouging company

Verified ReviewerLet other consumers know what I have experienced
I have used Suburban Propane since 2013 when I moved to New Bern. I had no problems until the last couple of years.
My understanding is that this company has gone public. I accidentally made a double payment when I paid online for the lower fuel price contract they offer in the summer. They refused to return my second payment. When my monthly budget plan of $62.74 was not paid on time because I thought they would take it out of my credit balance of over $300, I received a phone call and was told they could not do this as it was a separate account.
These types of accounting practices were never in place before the last few years. They enjoy holding your money. In addition, one of their fuel delivery men rode by my house when we were home and stated he could not find my home to deliver propane, which we needed.
I live in Fairfield Harbour where houses have clear numbers on the mailboxes. I am going to have them pull out their tank underground when my contract is over and go with another company.
- Good company
- Before last few years
- Accounting practices and policies have changed
Preferred solution: Nothing. I have had bad experiences with them now for about a year. I don't trust them anymore.
User's recommendation: USE ANOTHER PROPANE COMPANY
One star because zero stars are not an option.
This company lied about the price, the condition of the tank, the number of gallons delivered, and their clever surcharges that were never even mentioned before delivery.
User's recommendation: Stay away from this company! There are quite a few reasons why they have a one-star average rating.

Verified ReviewerResolved: Service and Billing
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. I spoke with the district manager and we came to an agreement
Your agent specified the tank placement on the left and we were given a quote for the tank and installation. Other than the Rinnai a 48" Wolf range was speced for the kitchen on the right side of the house. Many discussions that the gas had to be installed before the range as the appliance installers are the only ones trained to handle the very heavy, expense range. The Suburban installer showed up a day early with an attitude.
He was mad stating the tank should have been on the right side. He insisted he had to install regulators across the house. We had to have the gas for the Wolf install in two days so your man proceeded to put in his regulators with no mention of extra cost. I was given a bill for the agreed amount and it was paid.
Two days later the appliance installers asked for the gas to be turned on and we found that the installer had LOCKED THE TANK!!! I immediately called Marilyn at my local office and was told that your installer sent a photo of the Rinnai not being plugged in. THE PLUG WAS HANGING ON THE OUTLET AND THERE WERE AT LEAST 6 MEN ON SITE THAT WOULD HAVE EASILY PLUGGED IT IN. Your man left without a word!!!
Marilyn then informed me there would be an additional charge to come back and unlock the tank the end of the next week. Unbelievable!! It only gets worse. I then receive a bill for $1000 for the install of the regulators because your person placed the tank of the wrong side of the house.
I asked Marilyn from Hilton Head to have a supervisor contact me but of course I have not heard a word.
This is the 6th project I have had with Suburban in the last few years and I have Suburban in my own home. I would certainly expect some satisfaction to this extrememly irritating service.

Verified ReviewerClose out bill for picking my tank up which was less than 20 miles
I paid the ridiculous bill so they are happy why should they contact me
charged 190 dollars for picking up our tank, which other companies charge 75 dollars. I've been a great customer for years, finally got natural gas, so I called Suburban to pick the tank up and got soaked with a 190 pickup fee, which is less than 20 miles away.
Totally ridiculous!
Tried to call and reason with them and only got a rude attitude. Never again.
- Outrageous pickup fee
Preferred solution: Price reduction
User's recommendation: Buyer beware
Crooked company
There were hidden fees and I was like to about the equipment, I was charged 2-3X what the average was for propane being charged by competitors in my area, when I cancelled they refused to come get the tank, then tried to fill it up. We stopped them and told them they were supposed to come get the tank in August and this was February the following year.
They charged me a "minimum of 5 gallons" at $13.46 a gallon, when they didn't deliver any propane. Now they're threatening to send me to collections for not paying for the propane they didn't deliver, after service was cancelled with them back last July.
User's recommendation: Don't ever use this company, and if you are, get away from them as fast as you can.
Just had my tank filled last week. The price they charged was $ 7.94 a gallon.
Price per gallon was $ 7.94.
Whew...this is the highest its ever been.
Their service is good. I always get a delivery in a few days, but I'm considering going electric.
I have a gas stove,( I do not use the oven) I also have the water heater.
I only use warm water for showers. Too expensive, by far...

They manipulate seniors by lying for a year about on call delivery vs. Constant delivery that is not needed.
They just robbed me by claiming two deliveries.
The last delivery I called for which is contracted was in January 2023. They claimed I'm on auto but it's never been that way. They never send invoices so you can dispute.
They have a bully answering phone who can't explain why if I'm on AUTO did they only deliver 3 times in two tears.
He again insulted me by repeating ypur on auto...
It's a scam.
They are a scam. PUT Scammer companies out of Business
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: Never... run for ypur life

Be prepared for way more than the $62+ you paid twice AND got credit for if you stop service. The Pump Out fee is $150 plus labor. The Tank Pickup fee is $45.
No that is my monthly amount. I paid $ 380 twice
